A new version of Chilipoker will soon be available, and I have the pleasure of spending the rest of the day giving you one of my world famous reviews. I must say it’s a upgrade worth talking about, as each new feature makes the software much more user friendly and fun to use. Grasping the better elements of the software could virtually improve your profitability, as table section is an important part of online poker.

May I remind you that Chilipoker also offers a Free Poker Statistics Tracker for all its players. Players can access it by visiting the Chilipoker Website and clicking on the My Account >> My Stats link.

You can break down the stats into Cashgame, SnG, Tournament or Frequent Player Points.

Did you know? In cashgame we measure the ratio of the Big Bet (BB) for each 100 hands. A Big Bet is twice the amount of the big blind. The BB/100 measures your success rate regardless of the table stake at which you play. In SnG and in MTT we use the Return of Investment (ROI). This enables you to check how much your return is for each $1 investment.

Ok, so back to the software preview. First thing we are going to cover is the new top drop down menu:

Once you have logged in you will notice the My Account will become active. Click on the My Account link and you will go to the cashier for a look at your VIP level, FPP Points Balance, Bonuses, Cash, Tournament and Transaction History and a list of settings. Obviously you can also make a deposit or a withdrawal from the cashier screen.

The options drop down menu has a list of options that you can turn on an off. You can also use this screen to choose your iPoker avatar, or you can just turn the off the avatars by un-selecting the show avatars screen. The View Hand Strength option displays your hand strength on-screen as each hand progresses. You can also turn off/on the all in percentage monitor, several chat options are also available including a useful new side chat option (see below). Some prefer to use the show folded cards option, or the 4 color deck.

For all you cash game players, use the table action menu to set up your auto top-up or control you system settings, audio settings or casino games options from the same screen. For all of you the enjoy playing on a big screen why not turn on the enable full screen mode and a nice side chat for better view at whats going on at the Chilipoker tables. (See picture below)

Right next to the options menu you will find a promotions menu with a list of our most current promotions (and you know how good we are at that). A very useful option is the search player option where you can tag your mates as buddies and find them at the iPoker tables. The search for player function is excellent for a poker player / poker mentor relationship.

Simply use the search player function to search for a Chilipoker Nickname then double click on the table he/she is on and start watching all the action….

For support help click on the contact us, live chat or telephone options on the top of the screen. You should also notice the server time on the top right hand corner of the screen. Which will help you plan your next tournament. For example my local time says 17:11 and the server time says 16:11 so I can expect a 1 hour time difference when looking for the next satellite or tournament I’m looking to play.

Already you will notice that the Chilipoker client is more user friendly then most, but just wait until you see the next round of features in the Chilipoker client lobby.

The Poker Lobby, Quick Seat, My Favorites, Game Filters, Table Selection & Much Much More!
The quick seat option is a 5 step selection process for finding a seat:

Step 1 Cash Games or Tournament?
Step 2 Texas Holdem or Omaha?
Step 3 No limit, Pot Limit or Fixed?
Step 4 Select a stake…
Step 5 Select the Maximum Amount Of Players 2, 6, 10

In my opinion one of the best features of the new software us is the Filter, simply choose what type of game you are looking for including NL, PL, Fixed and the stake you want to play at including Micro, Medium, or High. The Hide Full option will remove tables that are full, our tournaments that have started or finished. On the left of the screen you will find options to have the lobby displayed in 2 columns or 3 columns.

Have you noticed the new icons in the lobby that describe the type of game available?

Tournaments come in several different formats and structures, including short, deep and super stack. Turbo Tournaments and Super Turbo Tournaments are a much quicker game of poker, the blinds increase rapidly, and are not the type of tournaments for the faint hearted. Rebuy tournaments are for the well stacked players, everyone tends to throw chips away in the first hour, simply because they want a larger stack and everyone is able to Rebuy or Double Rebuy with less then 1500 chips. If this doesn’t sound like your game then a Freezeout Tournament may be what your looking for.

The most juicy Tournaments are the regular Guaranteed Prize Pool or GP events, which can easily be found under the tournaments tab in the lobby. Just don’t miss the biggest event online European Championship of Online Poker (ECOOP) with a monster $4,550,000 guaranteed prize and Chilipoker’s very own $1,000,000 guaranteed.

For all you guessing, Freeroll and Frequent Player Point (FPP) tournaments can be played for free or with some points that you have earned. If you really want to show off your poker skills, Satellite tournaments are a great way to win some big cash with a little amount of money. To get into a large tournament start from a stage III satellite and work your way up to a stage II or stage I or buy yourself directly into a super satellite.

To get familiar with the software, beginners may select from Real money or Play money games. Private tournament you will need a password for.

Now if you are in 2 column view when you click once on a table it expands and gives you further information, for example on a cash table the amount of Chips in play and a list of how many players are waiting. Join a waiting list will alert you when a seat becomes available, otherwise click the join table to get seated. Again double clicking on a table will open up the table, then simply find a seat open to get seated.

On the other hand if you are viewing tournaments in 2 column lobby, clicking once on a tournament will display a short description of the tournament or how many players (SNG) or time (MTT) is needed before the event starts.

Usually, when I am looking for a particular event, I sort the list by one of the following:

Name - the name of the tournament alphabetically
Currency - the currency at table, $, £ or €
Type - the type of poker game, holdem or omaha
Start - the start time, latest first
Plrs - the number of players at a tournament
Status - Upcoming, registering, finished

Now that you are familiar with the Chilipoker Lobby, from here you should easier to find the game you are looking for. Game selection is fundamental and can make a big difference in your bankroll. Choose an event within your bankroll and you will enjoy poker much more, and make more money!

Using the Tournament Lobby & Hand History while your playing is a good idea!
Finding the tournament lobby is easy, either click on a tournament while in the poker lobby then click on the Tournament Lobby or while in a game press on the menu button then on the lobby button. In the tournament lobby you will find the name of the players registered and chip counts details Prize Info such as:

Current Prizepool
Current Places Paid
Total buy-ins
Total add-ons
Payout Structure

A full description of the event is available, and all the possible details such as registration times, min players, rebuy costs, how many add on and rebuy chips you get, players at the table, starting stack, rebuy costs, and the number of satellite seats available. Click on the Levels Tab to review the blinds and break details and the duration of each level.

Looking at the tournament lobby gives you a better understanding of how you are sitting at a particular tournament, while playing an event look at the lobby to find details such as the average chip count, how many players are left, and what position you are currently in. This should give you a better understanding and a bigger picture of what’s going on, and how you should play.

All the tabs in the tournament menu can be sorted so you can easily list players by position, nickname or by chip count. On the bottom of the tournament screen you will find a list of Satellites leading up to this event. You have the time?
